Obituary of Stanford Burton Small
It is with great sadness the family of Stanford Burton Small, husband of the late Marie Antoinette "Tony" (Madore) Small, announce his passing, which occurred on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Maces Bay on October 7, 1921, he was a son of the late Arthur and Zena (Cawley) Small. Stanford was employed with the Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Co. in Saint John from 1941-1986. He served in WWII with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Regiment 256648, with the ranking LAC (Leading Aircraftman) and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 69 for 56 years. Stanford is survived by his daughters Carolyn (Murray) Olive and Alana (Lance) Crawford; daughters in law Margaret Small and Janice Small; sister Janice (William) McMonigle; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his wife of 61 years and parents, he was predeceased by his sons Burton Small and Mel Small and his sister Joan Larlee. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Maces Bay Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Stanford may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
