Obituary of Heather Gordon Spinney
With great sorrow, the family of Heather Gordon Spinney, wife of the late Douglas R. Spinney, announce her passing on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born May 9, 1932 in Bathurst, NB, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Smith) Miller.
Mom was proud of her Scottish Heritage, maintaining many of the traditions. She enjoyed traveling the world with our Dad for many years following his retirement. She shared stories of their adventures until her passing. She loved spending time with her mother while working together at Dufferin Hall. Her entire life was dedicated to her family.
Heather is survived by four children: Fennella Brewer, Charles (Maggie) Spinney, James (Catherine) Spinney and Gordon (Kim) Spinney; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Heather was predeceased by a son-in-law, Steven Brewer; brother Hamish and sister, Helen.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkland Millidge Hall, Saint John Regional Hospital Trauma Center and the Palliative Care Unit for the care and compassion shown to Heather.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm from The Church of the Good Shepherd, 668 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances made to Bobby’s Hospice or the Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
