Obituary of Blake Ian Hayes
It is with great sadness that the family of Blake Hayes of Saint John, beloved husband of Jean (Hamm) Hayes announce his passing, which occurred peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on July 12, 1929 in Millstream, he was the son of the late Warren and Iola (Boyd) Hayes. Prior to his retirement, Blake worked as the Head Receiver with Dominion Stores. He always looked forward to summering at Beulah where he enjoyed his cottage with his friends and family. Blake loved travelling and always treasured the times with his precious family. He especially enjoyed the times with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will always remember him as playful and loving. In addition to his loving wife Jean, of nearly 66 years of marriage, he is also survived by their children, Brian Hayes (Lynn) of Saint John and Chrissy Arrowsmith (Jerry) of Quispamsis; brothers, Gordon Hayes (Isabel) and Perley Hayes (Carlen); sister, Erma Sears (Wayne); grandchildren, Mike, Jeremy (Melissa), Meghan and Julie; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Aubree, Cohen and Summer; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandson, Gregory and brothers, Delbert and Arnold. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from First Wesleyan Church, Boars Head Road, Saint John on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
