Obituary of Audrey May Holder
Audrey May Holder of Saint John passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 12, 1915 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Ruddick and Charlotte (Tennant) Holder. Audrey attended Modern Business College, and for over 27 years she was the senior head biller for the Canadian Pacific Railway, and received the T.C.U. Honour Roll for 35 years in the Transportation-Communications International Union. Audrey also volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross Society and Ridgewood Veterans Wing. She was a member of the YWCA, St. Andrew and St. David United Church and former member of Exmouth Street United Church and Trinity Anglican Church. Audrey loved to cheer for the Toronto Blue Jays, which was her favorite team, and was also fond of horseracing. Audrey is survived by her nieces, Betty Lou (Scullion) Stafford (Bernie) and Tina Scullion; great-nephews, Doug Stafford (Barbara) and Bruce Stafford (Christine); great-nieces, Cheri Scullion and Erin Scullion; great-great-nephews, James (Ashley), Stephen, Matthew (Katie), Aaron, and Jarod Stafford; great-great-niece, Sarah Stafford; special cousin, Elizabeth Lowe; as well as many other cousins. Besides her parents, Audrey was also predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Marion (Holder) Scullion and nephew, William "Bill" Scullion. Audrey’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Kings Way Care Centre, 5CN at the SJRH and St. Joseph’s Hospital (staff of the 6th and 8th floor) for the exceptional care that was always provided towards her. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
