Obituary of Shirley Eileen Arthurs

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Arthurs who passed away very peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 21, 2016 after a long journey with Alzheimers. Shirley was born on August 27, 1935 in Saint John to the late Herbert and Kathleen (Mawhinney) Clark. She was known for her beautiful smile and love for life and her family, whom she adored so much. She served on the Saint John City Council from 1995-1999 and had her own TV program "Shirley and Company", which ran for many years. Shirley was a beautiful person inside and out. She is survived by her loving husband, Don Arthurs of Burlington, Ontario; her daughter, Kym Hellingwerf (Tony); her son, Reg Arthurs of Elora, Ontario; grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany and Sarah Hellingwerf, Samantha and Cassandra Arthurs. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Reg Clark (Cecile) of Montreal, Quebec, Charles Clark (Gloria), Eleanor Rowe (Late Bill), Peggy Bustin (Bob), Kathy Moore (Late Wayne), many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her sister, Colleen Howe. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
