Obituary of Mee Kuen Chan
It is with great sadness that the family of Mee Kuen Chan, loving wife of Fred Chan, announce her passing which occurred on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Mee was born on December 19, 1930 in Hoiping, China. Mee was a long time proprietor of Wong’s Drive In Restaurant in St. Stephen until her retirement. She was an avid walker and also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and photography. She adored her grandchildren and loved doting on them. Besides her loving husband Fred (married for 67 years), Mee is survived by her sons: Manley Chan, Vincent (Deedee McClain) Chan and David (Anna Moran) Chan; daughter, Wanda (Steve) Prosser; grandchildren, Laura Chan, Brendan Chan, DJ Chan, Russell Prosser and Matthew Prosser; two sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins and members of her extended family. Mee was predeceased by her parents and brother. The family would like to offer a Special Thank You to the staff of Saint John Regional Hospital 3CN along with Extra Mural nursing staff, especially Jackie and Samantha for their excellent care. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Friday, November 25 from 2 – 4:30 PM. Celebration of life service to follow from 4:30-5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, remembrances may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital – Extra Mural Program and the VanBeelen Family Care Fund c/o the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
