Obituary of Ronald Earl Steeves
Steeves, Ronald Earl – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ron Steeves announces his unexpected passing, which occurred at his residence on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Born in Saint John on January 17, 1943, he was a son of the late Earl and Winnifred (Pye) Steeves. Ron was a true family man, and a very proud father and grandfather. He had been a firefighter in Saint John for nearly 30 years, and was an active member of Local 771 IAFF and extensively involved in the charities supported by the Firefighters Union. Ron and his wife Carol were active members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church for 43 years. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Carol (Hawkes) Steeves of 48 years; his beloved children, Lisa Steeves (Chris Marshall) and John Steeves (Maria Jimenez); a cherished grandson, Devon Bradbury; siblings, Bob Steeves (Mary), Wayne Steeves (Sharon), Daryl Steeves (Ellen) and Debbie Burley (Ed); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended relatives. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by a sister, Judy Butler. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 am from St. Ann’s Church, 135 Simpson Drive, Saint John. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Cardiac Health and Wellness Clinic at the Saint John Regional Hospital or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
