Little by little Sr. Marion let go of so many familiar things and people from her surroundings to travel inward...and remember the people who formed her and loved her and gave her the gift of faith..as she prepared to greet them again...that's why she was still able to smile and reassure those who could only see the signs of illness. It was a treat to go to St. Vincent de Paul and be greeted by her in the same way she greeted Christ's poor..with a big and ready smile and a knowing compassion that was free of prejudice or judgement...she understood that it was Christ she welcomed and served each time someone entered. And as He says to her now, "whatsoever you did to the least of these you did it to me!" She will smile again and begin her eternity of gratitude to Him, and celebration with all the ones she loved who await her.
