Obituary of Robert E. Moir

It is a with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful overnight passing of Robert E. Moir at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 21, 2017. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on November 10, 1954, he has called Saint John home for most of his adult life. Bob was a very social person, with a reputation for always being there to help another when needed. A long time driver with Loyalist City Towing, his 24/7 work ethic meant he seemed to know everyone and everything, and he was always there in times of need. A dedicated siren-chaser, he later went on to operate the 40 ton big rig and 50 ton rotator. Bob loved to spend summer evenings as the timekeeper for the RYC races, and also spent many hours at exhibition park raceway helping groom the horses for harness racing events. Bob is lovingly survived by his partner, Sherry, and her son, Brandon; daughters/co-pilots Katie and Breanne (Matthew), and their mother, Kym; Kym’s nephew Murray; his mother, Claire; brother, John (Sue); sisters, Krista and Barb; his aunts, Margaret and Donna; and other aunts and uncles; as well as many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved 17 year old cat, Ama. Bob was pre-deceased by his father, Dr. J David Moir; and nephew, Jaron. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). We invite you to join us for a coffee gathering in Bob’s honour on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Brenan’s. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 3:30 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bishop McAllister College Kyogyera in Uganda or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation of Canada. www.brenansfh.com
