Obituary of Marie Eva Nickerson
It is with sadness that the family of Eva (Goguen) Nickerson of Saint John, wife of the late John "Jack" Nickerson, announces her passing, which occurred on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born January 13, 1927 in Rogersville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Marc and Eleanor (Bourque) Goguen.
Eva enjoyed her family and many years of golf and travel. She was the proud recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal and a 30 year member of St Pius X CWL club. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the War Amps of Canada (NB Chapter). In more recent years she found so much enjoyment watching her favourite golfer Rory Mcllroy, Saturday night 45’s with friends, casino trips and family visits at the cottage. She was such a character and inspiration to her family and so full of life. She will be so sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Eva will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda Lacey of Titusville; sons: Marc (Lori) of Riverview and Gerald of St. Albert, AB; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rita LeBlanc of New Bedford, Mass; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents, Eva was predeceased by her sons: Arthur, Robert, and Frederick; and 16 brothers and sisters.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2 to 8 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Mental Health Association, NB Lung Association, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
