Obituary of John C. Green
John C. Green passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the age of 93. Born in Saint John on September 13, 1923 the son of the late Roland and Nancy (Bray) Green and grandson of John and Lillian (Bosence) Green. He served overseas in World War II in Bomber Command as a Flight Engineer. After the war he joined Ford Motor Co. of Canada and was with Ford for 34 years retiring in 1979. He was then employed with Bird Packaging Limited of Guelph, ON from 1979 to 2010. He was a charter member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 and a 50 year honorary member of the Carleton Union Lodge #8 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s United Church. John is survived by two daughters Carol (Charles) Bird and Lois (William) Smith, both of Guelph, ON; two sons Dr. J. Scott (Joanne) Green, of Dartmouth, NS and Jeffrey A. (Krista) Green, of Saint John, NB; grandchildren: Paige, Carter, Stuart, Matthew (Lauren), Lorna, John Carl, Brent (Kim), Christopher, Lisa (Jon), Kelly (Darren) and Hudson (Amy); great grandchildren: Nathan, Carli, Jessica, Nicholas, Tyler, Ella, Mia, Peyton, Carson, Madelyn, Weston and Briar; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years Joan C. Green, sister Elizabeth (Hooper) and first wife Doris (Snodgrass) Green. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of John may be made to SJRH Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor’s choice.
