Obituary of Isabelle Doreen Wallace

Isabelle Doreen Wallace passed away in Saint John on February 14, 2017. She was born in Saint John on March 9, 1926, the daughter of John Russell and Nettie Elila (Niles) Steele, and sister to Shirley (Coles). Isabelle’s family was her pride and joy, particularly Colin, her late husband and devoted partner of 66 years; her son John; Gillian (Steele), her daughter-in-law of 44 years; her three grandchildren, Kate (Richard Cassidy), Jackie, and Peter (Becky); and Gus Wallace Cassidy, her great-grandson. Isabelle spent her formative years in Moncton and graduated from Moncton High School. In 1947, she graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing and went on to practice nursing at the Saint John General Hospital and in the private practice of the late Dr. Joseph Tanzman. Isabelle and Colin loved the community of Renforth, their home for more than 50 years, and spent many summers boating with family and friends aboard the "Jillie-Belle" on the beautiful Kennebecasis and St. John rivers. They also loved to travel further afield, and their experiences and memories of their many ocean cruises to ports of call around the world lasted a lifetime. She will be deeply missed. Isabelle’s family will always be deeply appreciative and grateful for the compassion, comfort, and excellent nursing care provided by the wonderful staff and management of the Loch Lomond Villa. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) At Isabelle’s request, there will be no visitation. A private family service will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated by the family.
