Obituary of Charlie Clarence Cross
The death of Charlie Clarence Cross of Jemseg, NB occurred on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Oromocto Hospital. Born on April 24, 1912 at Mill Cove, NB he was a son of the late Harry and Lillian (Ferris) Cross. Charlie was the husband of the late Margaret (Coombs) Cross and the last surviving member of his immediate family. Charlie owned and operated Cross General Store and gas pumps on Old Black River Road. He drove and owned his own taxi, and also worked as a Longshoreman at the port in the winter. He enjoyed fixing vehicles, farming vegetables and tending to his horses. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Ferris (Charles); a granddaughter, Laura Stoddard (Robert); great grandchildren, Erica and Brett Stoddard and Alexander Gallop. In addition to his parents, and his wife, Margaret, Charlie was predeceased by a son, Gordon Cross; grandson, Neil Cross; siblings Alice Barton, Kenneth Cross, Mildred Crosby, Bertha Wood, Mabel Stilwell, Kathleen Smith, Brigadier Stella Cross and Arnold Cross. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 12:00 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to Jemseg Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
