Obituary of William Owen Gibbs
It is with great sadness the family of William "Bill" Owen Gibbs, husband of the late Almeta (Lamb), announce his passing, which occurred at the Kingsway Care Centre, Quispamsis, on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Born in Bible Hill, NS on April 13, 1926, he was a son of the late Geoffrey and Elspie (Brown) Gibbs. Bill served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a storesman for 22 years, retiring in 1966. He loved helping others and was always the first to offer his hand. He had a passion for gardening, and watching sports, especially curling and baseball. In his later years, he enjoyed watching harness racing. Bill will be greatly missed by his sons Paul and Robert Gibbs, Daryl Pierce (Clare) and Bill Pierce (Jennifer); daughters Kelly Barrieau (Gilles), Patricia McKinnon and Angela Gibbs; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, including his special granddaughter Devan. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
