Obituary of Mary Ena Olsen
After a long and courageous battle, it is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Ena (Wright) Olsen of Saint John announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, July 23, 2016 surrounded by family at Bobby's Hospice. Born on March 12, 1947 she was the daughter of the late John and Edrys (Quinn) Wright. Mary will be missed greatly by her loving husband of 50 years, Kenneth Olsen; her children, Barbara (Bruce) Lake, Wendy Menzies and Lenny (Lisa) Olsen; her baby girl (miniature poodle), Lily; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, John (T-Anne) Wright, Judy (Patsy) Wright and Wally Wright; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Over her career she worked at many local hospitals and nursing homes most notably the TB Hospital, DVA and the Regional from its opening day. She attended Stella Maris Church and her Catholic faith was very important to her. Mary was also a member of Branch 69 Legion, where she enjoyed playing cribbage. She loved to travel, play bingo and cards of any sort with family and friends. Besides her parents, Mary was also predeceased by two siblings; her oldest sister, Gloria and baby brother, Ronnie; as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles. Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Bobby's Hospice or Canadian Cancer Society.
