Obituary of Marjorie Irene Arthurs
The daughters of Marjorie Arthurs, wife of the late W. Leslie Arthurs, wish to announce their deepest loss and profound sadness at the loss of their mother on March 22, 2017, after a courageous battle fought with Lewy Body Alzheimer’s disease. Born on November 25, 1925 in Lower Millstream, NB, she was the daughter of the late Seymour and Susan (Long) McKnight. Marjorie was one of 13 brothers and sisters and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. During her working career, Marjorie was employed as a teacher of a one room school at Bayswater and Milkish and also taught at Westfield. She was a woman of great spiritually and always took great comfort in her faith. Marjorie attended Bayswater-Summerville United Church and was member of Bayswater Bible Study. She was also a member of the Peninsula Pearls Seniors Club and Hillcrest Villagers. Marjorie is survived by her three daughters, Janet Hayward (Brian) of Saint John, Ann Marie Schurman (Carl) of Georgetown, ON and June Greer (John) of Quispamsis; eight grandchildren, Susan, Sherrie, Heather, Joseph, Carl, Marc, Ellen and Gregory; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marjorie’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital CAM Unit and Transitional Care Unit for the excellent care that was provided to her over the past 11 years. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in Hardings Point Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Alzheimer Society of NB or Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
