Obituary of Dorothy Roberta Hickman
It is with great sadness that John D. Hickman and Joseph Y. Hickman, step-sons of Tucky, announce her peaceful passing on February 25 at the age of 89 years, at her home in Rothesay Park, New Brunswick. One of two daughters of the late Clayton and Dorothy (McGuigan) Clark, Tucky grew up in West Saint John. Her mother ensured that she obtained a University education at Mount Allison University, which included a MSc in bio-chemistry, and led to employment in Saint John at the provincial medical laboratory with Dr. R.A.H. McKeen. Tucky possessed a vibrant personality, and outstanding athletic prowess. She married her late husband, Joseph D. (Joe) Hickman, and they shared 20 years of mutual activities and friends while pursuing golf, curling, bridge and travel. In later years, she was fortunate to meet Jim Harris, an American friend, who also shared her enjoyment of golf and travel. Tucky was also pre-deceased by her parents, her sister (June), and her step-son William B. Hickman and his wife (Diana) of Calgary, and her cousin Charlie. She is survived by her step-son John (Juliet) and their children Douglas (Pamela), Stephen (Jean), Charles (Gay); her step-son Joseph (Geraldine) and their children Leslie (Richard), Gillian (Paul), Roberta Lynn (Wes); and the late William Hickman's (Diana) children Laura (Norman), John (Evelyn); as well as numerous great-grandchildren, and cousins. The family takes this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the medical staff and caregivers for their ongoing care and comfort given to Tucky throughout her difficult medical challenges Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John NB (634-7424). The family of the late Tucky Hickman would like to invite her relatives and friends for a time of refreshment and remembrance as we celebrate her life on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Riverside Golf and Country Club, Rothesay from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. A private interment has already taken place. Donations in Tucky's honour may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at www.BrenansFH.com.
