Obituary of Wilfred Joseph Duplessis
It is with great sadness that the family of Wilfred Duplessis of Saint John, husband of the late Agnes (Thurbide) Duplessis announces his passing, which occurred on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in 1932 in Bouctouch, NB, he was the son of the late William and Helena Duplessis. Prior to his retirement, Wilfred was a dedicated employee of J.D.I., where he worked as a mechanic for many years. In his early working years, he was employed as a coal miner in Cape Breton and also worked on a number of Lake Freighters on the Great Lakes of Ontario. Wilfred will always be remembered for his strong work ethic. Most of all, he devoted his life to caring for the needs of his family and especially treasured the times spent with his precious grandchildren. Wilfred is survived by his five sons, Gordon (Carol), Willard, Bernard (Rosanna), Blair (Alma) and Gary; one daughter, Vonda; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother. Wilfred’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Bobby’s Hospice for the excellent care that was provided to him. Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church, 21 Canon Street, Saint John on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Sand Cove Road, Saint John. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
