Obituary of John J. Vaughan

Vaughan, John Joseph Jr. – With appreciation for a life well lived, we announce the passing of John "Pug" Vaughan which occurred on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Shannex – Embassy Hall with his family by his side. Born in Saint John on May 24, 1933, he was a son of the late John J. and Marion M. (Bryson) Vaughan and loving husband of the late Theresa (Beardsley) Vaughan who passed away in 2007. John graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1950 and went on to work for 40 years as an accountant for Provincial Insurance Agency. He was a devoted family man who loved sports and spending quality time with his children. He was active in his community as a member of the Kennebecasis Lions Club, Air Cadets and was a member of United Commercial Traveler. A devoted Catholic, John was a regular member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, St. Pius X and St. Peter’s and was a St. Peter’s bowler CYO and NB candlepin bowler. His love of sports was apparent with his longstanding memberships at both the Westfield Golf & Country Club and the Riverside Country Club, where he was known as a champion "forecaddie". He also coached KV Minor Hockey and was a member of the Golden Gloves boxing club. John will be missed by his children, Jacqueline Swagerman (Alan), Robert Vaughan (Janet), Jason Vaughan (Tammy) and Carrie Vaughan; grandchildren, Daniel, Olivia, Noah, Ashley, Joshua, Madison and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Penelope and Lillian; a sister, Midge Jennings; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Theresa, John was predeceased by his siblings, Mildred, Frances and Bobby. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31Gondola Point Road, Rothesay. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society of NB or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church would be appreciated by the family.
