Obituary of Bernie J. Reid
Bernie Reid passed away on Thursday, December 1st, 2016 at his residence in the Loch Lomond Village. Born September 17, 1932 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Arthur and Edith Reid. Bernie was the founder of the New Brunswick Antique Auto Club (NBAAC). He served twice as the Regional Director, was the Tour Chair twice, the Chairman of the Flea Market Committee, and the President of NBAAC. He kept busy refurbishing antique cars when he wasn’t busy with the auto club. Bernie held different jobs over the years, including a part-time school bus driver, transport truck driver, Simms Brush Factory, Saint John Post Office, and Brett’s ChevOlds, where he retired from. Bernie is survived by his son, Daniel (Carrie) of Quispamsis; his sister, Bernetta Wheaton; and his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Velma (Carr), and his girlfriend Joan Godwin. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, with a time of remembrance and refreshment to follow.
