Obituary of James "Donald" Inches
The death of James “Donald' Inches, age 83, occurred on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late James A. and Helen Louise Inches of St. Stephen, NB. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris, and his first wife Jane Cora (Lee) Inches. Following his graduation from high school in St. Stephen, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. He completed flight training in Canada before joining the Royal Air Force 609 Squadron; he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He had a distinguished career in the investment business, having worked in various locations across Canada and in the United States. He had a passion for sports and, in particular, sailing, golf, tennis, badminton and cross-country skiing. He is survived by his wife, Ada Hazen (Mackay) Inches, sons David Inches, London, England, Peter (Jeannie) Inches, Nanaimo, BC, Hugh (Cecilia) Scarth, Rothesay, NB, Harry (Carolyn) Scarth, Moncton, NB, Hazen (Marilyn) Scarth, St. John's, NL, daughters Margot Inches, Victoria, BC, Katherine (Michael) Grant, Rothesay, NB, and his 11 grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their dedication and compassion. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 11:00 AM, from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rothesay, NB.
