Obituary of William James Doherty
The death of William “Bill” James Doherty of Saint John, husband of the late Beulah E. (Gibson) Doherty, occurred on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home, Saint John. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late John J. and Cora Victoria (Coulsey) Doherty. Mr. Doherty was a Master Parts Salesman with Lawson Motors for 40 years before his retirement in 1982. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the Canadian Army and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #64 and St. Pius X Church. He is survived by one son, Bill (Debbie) of Riverview, one daughter Carol-Ann Doherty of Saint John, two sisters, Althea Steeves of Saint John and Mary Barrett of Fredericton, two granddaughters, Megan Chorney (Steve) and Bronwyn Doherty, one great granddaughter, Jennifer, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street, Saint John, on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Sunday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
