Obituary of George Joseph Fougere
The death of George Joseph Fougere, resident of Ridgewood Veteran's Wing, Saint John, NB, husband of Madeline (Shute) Fougere, occurred on August 1, 2005. Born on Shediac Island, NB on July 17, 1913, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Brun) Fougere. George had been self-employed as a fisherman, a longshoreman at the Saint John Port and a carpenter with John Flood Construction before retiring. He was a veteran of WWII and was a member of St. Pius X Parish. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Mary Loughton of McAdam, NB, Lilly Fougere of St. Stephen, NB and Debby Fougere of Montague, PEI; three sons, Gary of Quispamsis, NB, Donald (Kathy) of Hampton, NB and David (Elizabeth) of Windsor, ON; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Evariste of Shediac, NB. Predeceased by four brothers: Johnny, Phillip, Maxime and Andrew and one sister, Catherine. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. Following cremation a Memorial Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, August 4th, 2005 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow at Brenan's Funeral Home. After the reception interment will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the IWK, Ridgewood Veterans Wing, a Food Bank, St. Pius X Outreach Ministry, or a charity of the donor's choice.
