Marjorie Elizabeth (Betty) Bambury passed away on July 12, 2004 in her eighty-second year. She was the daughter of the late Marion L. (Knodell) and William J. Bambury and stepdaughter of the late Marion H. Bambury (McGowan). She is survived by: her brother William K. (Bill) Bambury (Fran); niece Jill of Baton Rouge; nephew Brent of Ottawa; nephew Greg (Susan) and great nephews William and Elijah of Saint John; several cousins and close friends. A native of Saint John, and a graduate of Saint John High School, Betty was a life-long member of Trinity Anglican Church where at various times she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on the Young Women's and Chancel Guilds. She was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Turnbull Nursing Home. For over thirty years Miss Bambury held positions with Canada Permanent and Canada Trust where she was well appreciated by both fellow employees and clients. Throughout her life, Betty had many interests including ballet under the late Sheila Ross, travelling, golf, and curling with the Saint John Business Ladies' Curling Association. She was very active with the Saint John Riding Club both as a horse owner and an instructor. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Betty was a joy to those who knew her. She was deeply loved by all of her family. Visitation with the family will take place Thursday, July 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). The funeral will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 115 Charlotte Street, Saint John at 11 AM on Friday, July 16th with interment at Fernhill Cemetery at a later date.
