Obituary of Laura E. Maffett

The death of Laura E. (MacLean) Maffett, wife of the late Dudley Maffett, occurred Monday, November 22, 2004 at the Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John, NB. Born March 20, 1912 at Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton, NS, she was the daughter of Donald and Mary (Minnie) (MacRae) MacLean. Laura retired from Ridgewood Veteran's Wing in 1977, where she had worked as a registered nurse. She was a member of Park Avenue United Church. Laura is survived by her daughter Shirley Myles (Donald) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, one brother Charles Neil MacLean of East Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton, NS, one grandson, John Jarvis, four step grand children, Kimberly MacGowan, Lynn White, Douglas and Andrew Myles, also several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by brothers, Allan, Neil, Alexander, Murdock and Harold MacLean, two sisters, Mary and Margaret MacLeod. Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) in charge of arrangements, visitation will be held on Wednesday, 2-4,7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 25, 2004 in the Loch Lomond Villa Chapel, 185 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John, NB, at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances in Laura's memory may be made to Loch Lomond Villa, Inc., Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
