Obituary of Patrick Albert McMackin

The death of Patrick Albert McMackin, husband of the late Winnifred (Hanley) McMackin and the late Hazel (Burke) McMackin, occurred on August 31, 2004, at his residence, Ridgewood Veteran's Wing. Born at Hillsdale, NB, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Farren) McMackin. He served on Continental Europe with the North Shore Regiment during WW II and was wounded in action on the Beach of Normandy. He was employed with Saint John Ship Building Ltd. being a boilermaker by trade and was a member of the Industrial Marine Workers Union Local #3. He was a member and enjoyed many hours of fellowship at the Saint John Senior Citizens Center, City Market. He is survived by his step-daughter Valerie E. Cole of Dipper Harbour, his sisters Miriam Monahan of Saint John, Dorothy Fudge of Saint John, Margaret Sherwood of Hampton, his 10 step-grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers James, Joseph, Thomas and Michael and his sisters Ann Russo and Elizabeth Hodges. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2004, at 12:00 NOON, from Holy Trinity Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances made to the charity of choice would be appreciated.
