Obituary of Margaret 'Madge' Garland
The death of Margaret 'Madge' Garland, wife of the late John Garland, occurred unexpectedly on March 23, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bristols Hope, NL on May 19th, 1916 she was the daughter of the late C. Edward and Annie Mae (Pike) Taylor. She is survived by her sons Selby (Sylvia) of Hampton, Rev. Canon James (Anne) of Toronto, Eric (Marlene) of Saint John, her daughter Judith Garland-Murray of Saint John, her 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Jim. In August of 2003 Margaret returned to Bristols Hope to participate in a reunion of the oldest 1Room School House in NFLD. She was the oldest living teacher at this historic event. Margaret has resided in Saint John for 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 7:00 ?9:00 pm, Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on March 26th 2005, at 2:00 P.M., from St. Luke's Anglican Church. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
