Obituary of Rae Sherman Weaver
The death of Mrs. Rae Sherman Weaver of 439 Crown Street, Saint John, wife of the late Vernon Manning Weaver, occurred on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Home, Saint John. Born in Doaktown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ray Sherman and Mary (Moorehouse) Holmes. In her younger years, Rae and her husband owned and operated Weaver's General Store in Doaktown. She later moved to Toronto and worked at Clarke Institute of Psychiatry for many years. Mrs. Weaver lived in Toronto for 30 years before moving back to Saint John in 1998. She is survived by two sons, Sherman Weaver (Margaret) of Kelowna, BC and Vernon “Butch” Weaver (Marie) of Gander, NL, three daughters, Bootsie Lewis (Gabe) of Saint John, Dawnie Chedore (Roger) of Saint John and Sally Theobald of Fredericton, one sister, Olga Holmes of Toronto, ON, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Perley Edmund Holmes and one sister, Aileen Holmes. By request of Rae, there will be no visiting or funeral service. A private family interment will take place at the United Church Cemetery, Doaktown, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
