Obituary of Margaret Frances Ward
The death of Margaret Frances Ward, resident of the Dr. V.A. Snow Center, Hampton, formerly of Saint John, occurred on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at her residence. Born in Saint John, Margaret was the daughter of the late John Boyd and Amy Harry (Williams) McAlary. Margaret was a lifelong member of Portland United Church. She was employed with Parke-Stetham Insurance for a number of years and was a past president of the Saint John Insurance Women's Association. Margaret was also a volunteer member of the YMCA Ladies Auxiliary for over 35 years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Shirley Carl Ward in 1982. She is survived by one son, John S. Ward of Lowell, Mass., USA, a granddaughter, Heather Elaine, her husband Roger and their children, Aleah and Connor of Calgary, AB, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law, Dr. Hubert B. Palmer of San Antonio, Texas. Besides her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, Alexander and Harry and sisters, Irene, Elizabeth, Adrienne, Eleanor and infant sisters, Jean and Amy. Special thanks to the Nursing Staff of Dr. V.A. Snow Center for their kindness and wonderful care given to Margaret. Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at Portland United Church on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 11:00 AM. By Margaret's own request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Saint John West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Charities or the charity of the donors' choice. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
