Obituary of Lena Maud Bates
The death of Lena Maud Bates, of 297 Mount Pleasant Avenue East, Saint John, wife of the late Edward Bates, occurred on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at her residence. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Belleisle, NB, on October 8, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Gideon and Elizabeth (Spragg) Urquhart. She is survived by one son, Carl E. Bates (Dale) of Saint John, one daughter, Sheila E. Brigden (Gordon) of Quispamsis, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Beecher and Roy Urquhart. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday 7-9 PM and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 2:00 PM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
