Obituary of Leora Winnifred McPhail

With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Leora W. McPhail announces her passing, which occurred on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PE. Born in Saint John on January 27, 1944 she was a daughter of the late Curtis and Bertha (Franklin) Purdy.

Leora will be missed by her children, Heather Clark (Bradley), Curtis McPhail (Natalie Langlais) and Janet McPhail; grandsons, Brady Clark (Maddie), Jordan, Brandan and Hunter McPhail; great-grandsons, Noah, Isaiah and Liam Clark; nephews Mark and Barry Palk and close friend Sue Mazerolle

In addition to her parents, Leora was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. McPhail; and her sister, Glenita Palk.

Leora was a kind and caring mother, who spent time knitting / crocheting hats for either cancer patients or premature babies. She volunteered at the Saint John Regional Hospital & Glen Falls School where her children attended. Leora’s had a deep love for the ocean and water, she collected seashells wherever she went adding them to her vast collection. It came as no surprise to anyone that in 2008 she moved to Prince Edward Island where, she fell in love with the landscape, beaches, serene nature of her surroundings and discovered a love for painting. No matter where her life took her, she was sure to take her faith and love of God with her. She is at peace

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
