Obituary of John Clement Altmayer
The death of John C. Altmayer of Saint John, NB in his 92nd year, husband of the late Winnifred (Dale) Altmayer, occurred on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Windthorst, Saskatchewan he was a son of the late George and Maria (Hutter) Altmayer and had been trained in drafting, worked in civil and mechanical engineering, construction, banking and as a salesman. He enjoyed carpentry, hand-craft, golf and as an artist he painted in watercolours. Survived by his children, Ann Elizabeth (Alexander C.F.) Hadfield of Saint John and Anthony John (Barbara) Altmayer of Burlington, ON; and five grandchildren, Christopher (Deirdre) Altmayer, Darren Altmayer, Amelia Hadfield, Mary (Rev. Daniel) Evans and Elizabeth Hadfield. Besides his parents and wife John C. was predeceased by one brother, George and four sisters, Cecilia, Anna, Elizabeth Plischke and Sr. Agnes Marie. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 11 am. with cremation to follow and burial at a later date in Burlington, ON. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
