Douglas Scott

Obituary of Douglas Frederick Scott

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Douglas Frederick Scott of Red Head, husband of the late Anice (McKee) Scott, announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, April 1, 2019.  Born in Saint John, NB on July 15, 1931, a son of Walter and Lillian Scott.

As a young man Doug volunteered his services to our country in the Korean War.  There he made some lifelong friends.  After his return he went to work with his step father and brother buying cattle and cutting meat for E. Machin & Sons.  There he met Anice McKee and the two were married in 1955.  She was his much loved and devoted wife.  He missed her greatly following her death in 2012.  Doug also worked at Rothesay Paper/Irving Paper Mill from 1964 until his much deserved retirement in 1991.  Mom and Dad enjoyed summers at their cottage in Buckley’s Cove.  They especially enjoyed it when their family was there with them.

He is survived by his son, Douglas (Laura); daughter, A. Mary Scott Keniston; his 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife and parents, Doug was predeceased by his siblings: Helen, Viola, Irene, Walter, William & Florence.

We wish to express our thanks to the staff of Extra Mural, 5CN and the team from Palliative Care for their excellent and compassionate care.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424).  At Doug’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.  For those who wish donations to Bobby’s Hospice or the East Saint John Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
