Obituary of Dorothy Leah Ward
The death of Dorothy Ward of Princess Street, Saint John, wife of the late Clarence Otto Ward, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday August 11, 2004. Born in Head of Millstream, NB, and she was the daughter of the late Warren and Mae (Hayes) Mason. Dorothy worked first at Robin's then Shoppers Drug Mart, also for the Eveleigh Hotel in Evandale and K-Mart, until her retirement. In her early years she was involved with the Girl Guides of Canada. She loved gardening and all types and colours of flowers. Dorothy had a special spot in her heart for animals, especially her hound dog “Heidi”. Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her five brothers Malcolm, Sterling, Medley, Victor, and Hartley Mason; four sisters Levica Mason, Eva McFarland, Gladys James, and Ola Leach. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Dorothy was survived by twin daughters Berthinia “Betty” L. Bourgeois (Joseph) of Saint John, NB and Barbara L. Publicover (George Dixon-Lennett) of Halifax, NS; one son Paul M. Ward (Lynn-Marie) of Riverview, NB; four grandchildren Tammy, Paul (Tracy) and Patrick (Jennifer Mallet) Ward and Sherri-Lynn Jamieson; two great grandchildren Dylan Ward and Kane MacDonnell. Arrangements are entrusted to Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). At Dorothy's request there will be no visitation, the funeral service will be celebrated from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday August 13, 2004 at 11 am. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery will take place after the service. For those who wish, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital for crippled children, or Children's Mission (children of the dump).
