Obituary of Mary D. Scott
The death of Mary D. Scott (Scottie) RN of Saint John, NB, formerly of Clarendon St. occurred on Thursday July 14, 2005 at the Kennebec Manor. Born in Saint John a daughter of the late Charles Walter and Mary Ellen Veronica “Nellie” (Kane) Scott. Mary had been employed as a registered nurse, graduating in 1943 from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing, forty years of her career was at the DVA Hospital. She was a life long member of St. Peter's Parish and a past member of the Carleton Curling Club “Business Ladies” and Thistle-St. Andrew's Curling Club. Mary enjoyed playing bridge and looked forward to her days at New River Beach with her friends and beloved beagle, “Addie”. Mary had a passion for poetry and often recited her favorite poets, Bliss Carmen and Pauline Johnson. Survived by niece, Heather I. (John) Mason; nephew, W. Kenneth (Pamela) Haley; grand nieces, Janice (Ken) Deveau and Ruthann Haley; grand nephews, Peter Haley and David (Christine) Haley; great-grand niece, Samantha Haley. Predeceased by her parents and one sister, Margaret H.R. Haley (1989). At Mary's request there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Church, Clarendon Street, Saint John, on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 11:00 am. Interment to be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Animal Rescue League or to a charity of the donor's choice.
