Obituary of Ruth O. Armstrong
The death of Ruth Olive Armstrong formerly of Millidge Avenue, Saint John, and resident of McKellars Special Care Home, Nauwigewauk, wife of the late George Wellington Armstrong, occurred on Monday, January 17, 2005 at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton, NB. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Saint John on June 9, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Elizabeth (Wayne) Kerrigan. Ruth was a former member of the Home and School Association and the International Order of Kings Daughters and Sons. She enjoyed her summer cottage at Crawford Lake and was a great homemaker and mom. She is survived by three daughters, Gloria E. Nice (Burton) of Saint John, Winnifred M. Whalley (J. Stuart) of Wickham and Margo Lynn Armstrong of Saint John, four grandchildren, Adriane Nice, Brock Whalley, Daniel A Coles and Shonaugh Coles, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Ruben, Aubrey, Percy and Howard Kerrigan and one sister, Eva Kerrigan. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, January 20, 2005 from 1:00-2:30 PM, followed by the funeral service in Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
