Obituary of Lillian Kashetsky
The death of Lillian Kashetsky, in her 99th year, of Saint John, wife of the late Hyman Kashetsky, occurred on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Fredericton on March 28, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Levine. Lillian was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek, a member of the Sisterhood Shaarei Zedek and was a life member of the Henrietta Szold Chapter of the Canadian Hadassah-Wizo. She is survived by David Holland (Nancy) of Saint John, Ronald Levine (Sandra) of Saint John, Herzl Kashetsky (Faith) of Saint John, Ancil Kashetsky (Hannah) of Ontario, Jerome Kashetsky of Vancouver, BC and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Abe Levine, Isaac Levine, Nathen Levine and Simon Levine and sisters, Nelly Haslett and Bessie Cohen. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), on Friday, June 24, 2005 at 2:30 PM. Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum or the Saint John Free Public Library would be appreciated.
