Obituary of William "Bill" Holt
The passing of William “Bill” Holt, age 80, of Saint John, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Wednesday, May 11, 2005, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Married for 57 years, Bill was the husband to Isabel (Boutilier) Holt and the son of the late Seth James and Sarah (McDonald) Holt. In his early years, Bill was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy. He then worked for CNR for 16 years and 25 years with Olands/Labatts Breweries, until his retirement. After his retirement Bill was known as the “King” of Fegan Court. Bill was an active member of his community, coaching little league and junior baseball. He was a member of the Thistle-St. Andrews Curling Club and an honourary life member of the Saint John Fire Fighters Association Union Local 771. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by four children: Wendy (Drew) Robertson of Fredericton, Ricki (Lynn) Holt of Moncton, Ronald (Cathy) Holt of Quispamsis and Kimberley (Michael) Wolter of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren: Timothy Holt, Kristin (Robertson) Gilmore, Tracey Holt, Laura Holt, Jay Robertson, Kelly Holt, Ashley Holt and Jason Wolter; one great-grandson Corey William Holt; four sisters: Eileen Appleton, Eunice Wilson, Elsie Peters and Audrey Suttie; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers: Malcolm, James and Jack, one sister, Ethel Butland. The family would like to thank the staff of the emergency room at the Saint John Regional Hospital and the staff of 5CS. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Friday and Saturday, May 13 & 14, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2005 from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or the A.L.S. Society of NB.
