Obituary of Cody Garland Smith
The death of Cody Garland Smith of Golden Grove occurred unexpectedly on July 8, 2004 at his residence. Born in Saint John, he was the son of Nevetta Agnes (McDermott) Smith and the late Graydon Lee Smith. Cody was a graduate of Saint John High. He went on to join the Naval Reserves at the Brunswicker where he served during maneuvers on the Preserver and the Nippigon and visited Liverpool, Shetland Islands, Iceland, Paris and Bad Toelz, Germany where his brother Graydon Jr. served with the American Armed Forces. He later attended Concordia University and went on to graduate from UNBSJ and UBC with two Bachelor of Arts degrees, majoring in Political Science and History. In Saint John he was a Financial Investment Advisor with Manulife. He is survived by his mother and his brothers Purdy Smith of Calgary and Graydon Smith Jr. of Louisiana, his niece Brandy Thomas and his nephew Graydon-Lee Smith III, and several great nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 from 5-9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2004 from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.B., or the Canadian Cancer Society.
