Obituary of Muriel E. Black
After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends the passing away of Muriel Elizabeth (Phillips) Black, of McLaren Blvd., wife of the late Percy Laird, occurred on Monday, February 7, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John she was a daughter of the late Pearl and Lillian (Hannan) Phillips. Muriel was employed at Red Rose Tea on the production line until her retirement and also worked at the Federal Store. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid card player. Muriel is survived by three sons; Michael John (Gordon) and Barry Allan both of Saint John and Kevin Paul (Louise) of Moncton; two daughters; Juanita Lynn Black of Saint John and Deborah Ashbridge (Donnie) of Norton, three brothers; Allan Phillips (Margaret) of Saint John, Robert Phillips of Ontario and Danny Phillips of Saint John, 7 grandchildren; Adam, Kathryn, Amy, Linda, Pamela, Kim and Patrick, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Pearl Allan. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Following cremation interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
