Obituary of Vida Grace Eldridge
The death of Mrs.Vida Eldridge age 99 years, wife of the late Harold F. Eldridge, occurred on Monday, May 24, 2004 at the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home, Saint John, NB. Born February 9, 1905 in Saint John a daughter of the late Sidney and Emily (Burgess) Gibbs, graduated from Saint John High School, worked for NB Telephone Company, the Registered Nurses Association, the Red Cross, the National Film Board and Centracare. Vida was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church and Beaver Harbour Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and doing needlepoint. Vida and Harold enjoyed many years of traveling and entertaining their many friends. Survived by her daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, Ernest Eldridge; granddaughter, Miriam (Hartley) Avery; grandson, Tom (Marsha) Eldridge; great-grandchildren, Heather Avery, Cailin (Corey) Richard and Devon Eldridge and special caregiver, Gloria Perrin. Predeceased by her husband, parents and sister, Vera Fairbrother. By request of the family there will be no visiting at the Funeral Home. Following cremation a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home Chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place on Monday, May 31, 2004 in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Inc., the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424.
