Obituary of Elizabeth McArthur Skinner
The passing of Elizabeth McArthur (Chase) Skinner, formerly of Prince Edward Square Apartments, Saint John, occurred on Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home, Saint John, following a lengthy illness. Born in Saint John on June 12, 1912, daughter of the late Walter Wheeler and Helen Maude (McArthur) Chase. Predeceased by husband, Douglas S. K. Skinner on September 25, 2002 and her sister, Mildred Osborne (Chase) Patterson on May 26, 2003. Elizabeth was educated in Saint John. Early illness limited her from continuing her education or pursuing a working career. However she was active in sports and the community over the years. She was a long time member of the St. Andrews Curling Club, the Westfield Golf Club, the Union Club, St. John's (Stone) Church, the I.O.D.E. (Lady Moyra Ponsonby) and a long time Board Member of the Turnbull Home. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by five nephews, Dr. William Patterson of Saint John, Douglas Patterson of Grand Bay-Westfield, Donald Patterson of Grand Bay-Westfield, Robert Wells of Toronto, ON and Donald Skinner of Victoria, BC. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the St. John's (Stone) Church or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
