Obituary of Philip Lloyd Ainsworth

The passing on of Philip Lloyd Ainsworth of Saint John NB occurred July 8, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Philip was born in Saint John, in 1921, the son of the late Dr. Francis and Agatha (Coughlan) Aske Ainsworth. He is survived by his wife Jeanne (Cardinael) Ainsworth, two sons, Frank (Susan) of Hampton and John of Saint John, his daughter Denise of Saint John, his sister Constance (Harris) of Ottawa, and several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Philip, sister Frances and brother Thomas. During the Second World War Philip served with the Canadian Army, #12 Canadian General Hospital, assigned to Belgium where he met his wife Jeanne. After the war Philip had a rewarding career with Canada Post where he worked in the later years on the implementation of the Postal Code system. In his retirement, Philip was enthusiastically involved with the Rifle Range Tenants Association where he served as chairperson. As the association's stalwart and diligent advocate the association was instrumental in obtaining numerous property improvements throughout the renovation project. He was highly regarded by neighbors for his dedication in achieving these improvements. His interest, advice, and support in his son's printing business, Printing Plus, contributed considerably to its development. He was always there to help in resolving the many day-to-day issues. Philip enjoyed spending his summers at his camp in Chapel Grove where he often celebrated family gatherings on special occasion such as birthdays or anniversaries. Although there will not be visiting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at 10:00 AM from St. Pius X Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, a memorial donation may be made to St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church renovation fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor's choice. All such donations are greatly appreciated by the family.
