Obituary of Ronald Samuel McGrath
The death of Ronald McGrath of Saint John East, NB, husband of Joyce (Trail) McGrath, occurred on Friday, May 7, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was a son of the late Reid and Helen (McCarthy) McGrath. Ron had been employed until the time of his retirement in 1992 as Constable with the Saint John Police Force and was an active member of Stella Maris Parish as a Minister of the Eucharist and Senior Altar Server. He was a Hunter Safety Instructor, a member of the Saint John Police Force Retirees, the Credit Committee of the Bayview Credit Union and enjoyed woodworking. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Ron Jr. (Tracy Fraser) and Tom (Ethel); two daughters, Brenda (Mark) Mackin and Shyanne (Colin) Moore; one brother, William (Carol) McGrath; two sisters, Anna (Walter) Ellis and Winnifred (William) Haines: all of Saint John/Quispamsis area; three grandsons, Christopher, Joshua and Patrick; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and his step-mother, Dorothy McGrath. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday and Sunday, May 8 & 9, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church, Bayside Dr., Saint John on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
