Obituary of Joan A. Smith
The death of Joan A. (Wall) Smith of 787 Prospect Street, Fredericton, formerly of Rothesay, wife of the late Benjamin Smith, occurred on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Harris and Olive (Steeves) Wall. Mrs. Smith was a secretary for several companies in Saint John and retired as the secretary of the Blood Clinic at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Smith (Carolyn) of Calgary, AB and Dr. Mark Smith (Colleen) of Ottawa, ON, three daughters, Patricia Scheklar of Los Angeles, Peggy Frankel (Joel) of Toronto, ON and Debbie Pitt (Chris) of Fredericton, two brothers, Edson Wall (Claire) of Halifax, NS and Laurie Wall (Ethel) of Victoria, BC, sister-in-law, Goldie Johnston of Johnston Point, NB, 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Pitt, Anna and Samara Frankel, Levi Scheklar, Rebecca and Benjamin Smith and Daniel, Leah and Rachel Smith, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one infant child and sister-in-law, Helen Budovitch (Joe). Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 2:00 PM. Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
