Obituary of Edith Viola Betz
The death of Edith Viola Betz, of 140 St. James Street, Saint John, occurred on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Thomas and Margaret (Mason) Ricketts. Mrs. Betz was the Control Room Operator at CFBC for many years and later worked with H & R Block until her retirement. Edith was a member of the Martello Temple #25, Pythian Sisters and enjoyed knitting, reading, crafts, writing and was involved with theatre groups. She is survived by two sons, Peter Ricketts (Carmella) of Saint John and Karl Betz (Cyndi) of Georgia, USA, three daughters, Theresa Sale (William) of Elizabeth City, NC, Denise Rayman of Chesapeake, VA and Delores “Lori” Seidel of Saint John, one brother, Norman Ricketts (Karen) of Oshawa, ON, two sisters, Louise Eastwood of Mispec and Gloria Campbell (Ralph) of Foley Lake, NS, 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Donna Margaret Ricketts. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 2:15 PM. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
