Obituary of Donald James Dixon
Donnie passed away on December 8, 2004 after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and helped many grow stronger during his illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Nancy (nee Quartermain), and his son Troy, of whom he was extremely proud. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jo-Ann Gallant, Michael Clarke, Jackie Dixon, Rose Marie Stevens and Margaret Fairweather, two nieces and nephews and two great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Francis and both parents. Donnie worked at the Irving Tissue Mill for many years and “Double D” was a friend to many. He was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Parish, where he helped out in so many ways. He served on the Parish Council, Liturgy Committee, Hospitality and was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Eugene O'Leary Council 6595, where he loved every minute of his service. In October of this year he was honoured as Knight of the Year for his Council. In his early years he was involved with Jr. A Hockey and Little League baseball, and raced his 49 Ford in Pennfield. He enjoyed bowling and loved working in his yard and keeping his car shiny. Thanks to all who have helped in so many ways. No words will ever be enough. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (506-634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Trinity Church on Monday, December 13, 2004 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances made to Holy Trinity Church Building Fund, Donnie's favourite charity, would be appreciated.
