Obituary of Jeanne Josephine Ainsworth
AINSWORTH, JEANNE, JOSEPHINE (CARDINAEL) passed away peacefully on October 17, 2004 at the Turnbull Nursing Home. Jeanne was born January 13, 1920 in Brugge, Belgium and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Loosveldt) Cardinael; and the wife of the late Philip Lloyd Ainsworth. Jeanne met Philip in Belgium during the Second World War and came to Canada in 1948 where they were married at St. Peter's Church and raised their family on Cabot Court in the North End of Saint John. On various occasions over the years, Jeanne returned to visit her family in Brugge, a city that she loved greatly. She last visited there in the Spring of 2000 at the age of 80, so full of vitality and energy. Jeanne loved the simple pleasures of life; good food, laughter, gardening at her summer cottage, doing crossword puzzles and embroidery. She took great joy in family gatherings and Saturday shopping trips with her daughter. Survived by her son Frank (Susan) of Hampton, John (Debbie) of Saint John and daughter Denise of Saint John and close family friend Cindy Kilpatrick; brother Eddy Cardinael of Brugge: grandchildren, Alisa, Cynthia, Adam and Alaurea; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanne was pre-deceased by her son Philip of Saint John and sister Denise deCraeke of Brugge. Her family and those that knew her well will remember Jeanne as a kind, cheerful and loving person. She will be sadly missed and cherished always. Although there will be no visiting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, with a reception to follow. For those who wish, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or of donors' choice would be appreciated. Family members would like to extend a special expression of appreciation to the wonderful staff of the Turnbull Nursing Home who took such good care of Jeanne and showed genuine concern and caring to all of us.
