Obituary of John Arnold Makepeace

The death of John 'Jack” Arnold Makepeace, of Saint John, occurred after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 18, 2003. A lifelong resident of Saint John, he was the son of the late Alfred Makepeace and Jennie (Round) Makepeace. Jack is survived by his three sons and one daughter Jim and his wife Ann of Hamilton, ON, Janet and her husband Neil Nason of Coquitlan, BC, David and his wife Carol- Ann of Saint John, Doug and his wife Donna of Saint John, and eight grandchildren Michael, Scott, Adam, David, Christine, Rebecca, Andrew and Eric, his sister Muriel Lawson of Bass River, NB, and brother Raymond of Hamilton, ON. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Olive (Griffin) in 1997 and brothers Arthur, Ronald and his sisters Fern Jones and Doris Fox. Jack entered the RCAF in 1939 and served in England and North Africa. He then worked as a machinist/millwright for E. S. Stephenson till his retirement. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Saint Columba Presbyterian Church. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be held from Saint Columba Presbyterian Church, 1454 Manawagonish Rd., on Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
