Obituary of Irene M. Brun
After a brief illness, Irene M. (LeBlanc) Brun of Rothesay Road, Saint John, NB, wife of the late Andre J. (Andy) Brun, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born at Westfield, Kings County, NB, May 5, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Anastace and Ida (Bourque) LeBlanc. Irene and her late husband, Andy, operated Brun's Restaurant until their retirement in 1973. She enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking, quilting, travelling and having tea parties with her great-grandchildren. Her hospitality and generosity were felt in the hearts of many. She was a life-long member of St. Ann's Parish. She is survived by her daughter, Leona (Lee) Stephen; her son, Al (Nancy) Brun, both of Saint John, NB; three brothers, Fred (Florence) LeBlanc of Fox Creek, NB, Harvey (Louise) and Arthur, both of Memramcook, NB; sister-in-law, Cora LeBlanc of Moncton, NB; seven grandchildren, Ralph John (Shelly) Stephen, Michael (Catherine) Brun, Monique Stephen-Davis (Bob), Carrie Macfarlane (Wayne), Stephanie Brun, Jason Stephen (Heather) and Jen Brun; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Brun, Olivia Stephen and Emma Davis; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Saulnier and Rita Dooe; brothers, Edward, Ernest and Aurele; and her son-in-law, Ralph J. Stephen. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) where visitation will take place on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church, Clarendon Street on Monday, February 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Following cremation, interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the charity of the donor's choice.
